Connecting to Guest Wi-Fi (BYOD) – Google Pixel Phones

Before you start

You’ll need your Bradford Academy username and password
You must install the Wi-Fi certificate first (see Step 1)
Step 1: Install the Wi-Fi Certificate (IMPORTANT)

Before connecting, you must install the certificate provided by IT.

Open the certificate file sent to you
When prompted, install it as:
Wi-Fi Certificate
Save it using the default name
This certificate comes from Smoothwall and is required for secure access.

Step 2: Connect to BYOD Wi-Fi

1. Open Wi-Fi settings

Go to Settings
Tap Network & Internet
Tap Internet
Select BYOD
2. Enter the required settings

You’ll see a connection screen—enter the following:

Use system certificate (or select the installed certificate if shown)

Identity (Username)

Your school username

Password

Your school password

Important things to check

Domain field

Must be set to 802.1X
(This matches the certificate configuration)
Anonymous identity / username

If you see “anonymous” → delete it completely
Leave this field blank
Certificate validation

If prompted differently on some devices:
Select Don’t validate
(Only if the certificate option above is not available)
